| Dear friends, |
| Vesak is the time to remember the three great events
in the life of Lord Buddha - birth, enlightenment and passing away. Each event represents
a turning point that leads humanity to a better future.
In 1999, United Nations has recognized Vesak as an important day for Buddhists around the world
and has held ceremonies commemorating this thrice-sacred day ever since. This year, the United
Nations will hold Vesak Celebration from May 14 to May 17 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

|
| On this Vesak Day, let us renew our faith to Lord Buddha. Let His teachings be our guide,
let faith be our strength, and let the love and compassion of Lord Buddha within us radiate to
all around us.
|
| On this Vesak Day, let us rejoice with our loved ones in the presence and blessings of multinational
Buddhist Sangha from around the Bay Area (Vietnamese, Burmese, Thai, Cambodian, Laotian, Sri Lanka).
|
| Please join us in celebrating the birth of our great teacher, Lord Buddha, and together we will
pray for peace and happiness of all sentient beings around the world.
